Above is a unique, four-way splitter designed by
John Burke
and built for
The Kennedy Center
in Washington D.C. through
Greg Lukens
of
Washington Professional Systems
of Wheaton MD.
Please note the construction detail in the top photo. Splits are accomplished with Jensen transformers. The bottom left (front view) panel contains individual ground lifts for each isolated output. The bottom right (rear view) photo shows all of the inputs and outputs via Whirlwind/ADC MASS punch blocks. This punchdown interconnect is especially popular for permanent installations as the entire splitter can be wired on site with a punchdown tool. The design of the MASS Punch system ensures rapid, strong, gas tight terminations without cumbersome and tedious soldering. The configuration can also be changed in the future if necessary by simply removing a wire and re-punching to a different terminal.
